The DOTr released Department Order 2020-012 that requires “motorists using toll expressways to engage in cashless or contactless transactions.”
In an advisory, the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) which operates NLEX and SCTEX, said it will implement 100 per cent radio-frequency identification (RFID) in all its toll lanes starting November 2, 2020. The RFID sticker will replace the Easytrip DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communication) which will be phased out by September 30, 2020.
Toll payments in the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and Subic–Clark–Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) will be cashless and contactless. “This is in compliance with the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) mandate to all motorists to install and use RFID in all expressways to control the spread of COVID-19,” the advisory read.
In view of the aforementioned, the Subic Bay Freeport Chamber of Commerce is partnering with NLEX-RFID in an RFID Stickering Campaign for all its members and stakeholders inside the Freeport.
