The Lighthouse Marina Resort Legacy Foundation (LMRLF) in partnership with the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), Subic Bay Freeport Chamber of Commerce (SBFCC),
National Coast Watch Council Secretariat, Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Clean Up the Philippines Movement
is organizing an Environmental Summit this coming September 28 and 29 at the Harbor Point Mall.
This Environmental Summit is a supplement of the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) Zambales campaign that aims to create awareness and take action on the issues of garbage spreading in our oceans and waterways.
Our oceans are under threat and it is our source of life. The purpose of this campaign is to encourage responsible guardianship of the sea and highlight our underwater cultural heritage and protect it.
It aims to unite all concerned citizens towards finding a solution to preserving and protecting our ocean.
ICC is the world’s largest volunteer effort that is celebrated every 3rd Saturday of September by 91 countries around the world.
We are proud to say that the Philippines was ranked 1st with the most number of participants which reached more than 250,000 volunteers in 2015. The ripple effect of this wave of change is seen in numbers, but our goal doesn’t stop there! Our commitment to purpose and sustainability aims to create programs that ignite change.
While beach cleanups alone can’t solve the ocean trash problem, having allies like you, helping us in the fight against marine debris, plays an integral piece to the overall solution. It may seem like an impossible task but as long as there are people willing to make a change, there will always be a chance for a better tomorrow.
This event hopes to gather like-minded individuals and companies who want to do their part in protecting our environment where they can share their ideas and collaborate with others to grow and expand their respective projects.
It is about inspiring each other to continue their advocacy and spread their passion and love for our planet, our only home. It will serve as a platform that will provide the public a better understanding of the various environmental issues we’re currently facing and finding solutions for a more sustainable future.
The objectives of the summit are:
• Establish ICC as a lifestyle and integrate it with community building activities.
• Educate the public on the current situation and policies as well as provide workshops that will enhance skills and knowledge for citizen action.
• Inspire and raise leaders among the youth
The program will be published soon. Please stay tuned to this event page for more updates.
