SBFCC Executive Director Donna May B. Tamayo attended the 43rd Philippine Business Conference held at the Manila Hotel last October 17-19, 2017
THEME: GIANT STEPS, TAKING THE LEAP FORWARD
Encouraged by the establishment of being one of the best performing economies in Asia, the Philippines under a new leadership has embarked on a long term program under the slogan, “AMBISYON NATIN 2040”. Ambisyon envisions a prosperous, predominantly middle-class society by 2040.
Supportive of this vision, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) in 2016 adopted its banner program called GIANT STEPS to help the country sustain at least an annual 7-8 percent economic growth in the next six years and contribute to the transformation of the economy into an upper-middle income one by 2012. In pursuit of becoming high-income economy by 2040, GIANT STEPS spells out programs on the build-up of soft and hard infrastructure; reducing the cost of doing business; enhancing innovation; and, strengthening key economic sectors such as tourism, agriculture and manufacturing. In 2017, PCCI embraced LEAP to ensure that GIANT STEPS moves forward. LEAP stands for LEADERSHIP, ENTERPRISE, ACTION and PERFORMANCE.

My warmest greetings to the Philippines Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) as they hold the 43rd Philippines Business Conference and Exposition.
More than a year ago, we launched the Ten-Point-Socio-Economic Agenda that aims to spur self-sustaining and inclusive growth across all sectors in society. The success of this initiative d
oes not just depend on the efforts of the government, but also on the active participation of the business sector.
I therefore commend PCCI for organizing this event and bringing together leading local ang global experts from the government and the business community, it is my hope that the meaningful insights from this conference would lead to a more vibrant and competitive environment where investments would flourish.
May this event inspire everyone to join us in more resilient economy that is capable of uplifting the lives of our people. With your support, I am confident that we ca build the foundations of a stronger and more progressive nation.
I wish you all the best.
